Friends of Cedar Creek work to ensure the highest water quality
for Cedar Creek and to protect and preserve its watershed including
geologic features, native plants and animals.
Friends of Cedar Creek actively advocates to protect and preserve
Cedar Creek while partnering with other organizations and working
cooperatively with local officials and legislators.
Collaborations include:
ACRES Landstrust acquired over 100 acres along Cedar Creek,
including a large
portion of the Great blue Heron habitat as well as Bicentennial Woods in the
Cedar Creek watershed.
The Fort Wayne Chapter of the Izaak Walton League established on Cedar Creek
the 55-acre dedicated Rodenbeck Nature Preserve.
The Allen County Park and Recreation Board accepted land adjoining
Cedar Creek for public parks; Cook's Landing (5-acres)
and Metea Park(a 115-acre
natural area near Cedar Creek's junction with the St. Joseph River).
